Description

The Doc, sometimes known as Doc Terminal, is a walking dead man. His idea germinated from a Rifts tabletop RPG I used to run. The character class of the Juicer was a super soldier of sorts. A military weapon using a constant supply of an adrenaline-like chemical cocktail to push the limits of man’s physical potential. Unfortunately, the process burns out a human body in 4-6 years. I was interested in the idea that anyone who was willing to undergo this process must have a damn good reason. Whether they were attracted to the live-fast-die-young lifestyle, or thought they could buck the odds, ride it out for a few years and retire young after detoxing, or maybe something a little more desperate motivated them.
Doc had started out as a small town doctor with a wife and family, his military past almost a different life. But their cruel deaths at the hands of a sadistic group of mercenaries left him a hollowed shell focused only on revenge. He underwent the juicer conversion knowing full well the weight of the decision. He had 4-6 years to track down every last member of the mercenary group, and pay them back in full. He carries with him his own coffin, filled with an arsenal to cover his every need, for any situation. When his brutal journey is over, he wants to be laid to rest in his coffin of guns, buried with his legacy of violence.
Doc’s base body and head are a BBI figure based on the likeness of some guy who won “Survivor” or some thing. I had been looking for a face that was older, but rugged. His chemical supplying bio-comp harness is cobbled together from wires and bits and epoxy, and was one of my favorite projects to work on. I lined the entire coffin in red velvet, to show that, driven by revenge or not, it’s always important to look classy doing it.
While I no longer run a Rifts campaign, I think that Doc’s character may find a new home in his own story, if I ever find the right way to tell it.
